Mrs. Wake & her Third Graders Review The Gingerbread Man Loose in the Zoo!

Hi! Welcome! The Gingerbread Man’s 4th adventure, The Gingerbread Man Loose in the Zoo, popped from the oven on August 23, 2016!

Check out Mrs. Knott’s Book Nook Blog for a fun review by Mrs. Wake and her third grade class. Here’s a snippet from the post:

You know it’s going to be a great day when you receive a folded and gathered (F&G) copy of the newest book by Laura Murray! We met Ms. Murray through Skype back in February for World Read Aloud Day. My third graders loved reading other Gingerbread Man adventures as they followed that pesky little cookie through a school, a firehouse, through the holidays, and now…the zoo!

When we Skyped with Ms. Murray, we learned that she used to be a teacher and got her ideas from her experiences in the classroom. That was a game changer for my third graders as they witnessed a real example of how an everyday experience at school could be transformed into an interactive, whimsical narrative filled with rhyme, figurative language and humor! Ms. Murray has provided not only entertainment, but also a great mentor text for older elementary children!

Come August of 2016, teachers can add this gem to their classroom libraries! I’d love to take my students to the zoo on a field trip and model some sort of scavenger hunt after this adventure! The possibilities are endless!

If you like animals that live in the zoo,

then I believe this book is meant for you.

The Gingerbread Man is still huffing looking for his class.

Let’s just hope the giraffes won’t eat him and let him pass.

Will the Gingerbread Man survive?

Or, will that be his last life?

There you go! Read The Gingerbread Man Loose at the Zoo! (And don’t worry, he doesn’t have extra dough!)
